Tata Communications launches Vayu Cloud: A unified AI-cloud platform for cost-effective, scalable solutions

The new AI-cloud offering promises 15-25 per cent cost savings and seamless cloud interoperability

Tata Communications recently unveiled Vayu Cloud, an all-encompassing Artificial Intelligence (AI)-cloud platform that designed to integrate compute, storage security and connectivity, streamlining cloud adoption for enterprises while addressing cost and security challenges.

The latest product brings together Tata Communications’ existing cloud solutions under a single modular framework, enabling businesses to reduce cloud expenses by 15-25 per cent through a cost-efficient architecture and the elimination of data egress charges—setting it apart from major competitors like Google Cloud, AWS and Microsoft Azure.

The platform targets 1,000 large enterprises, AI-driven startups and academic institutions that require scalable infrastructure for AI model development and industry-specific applications.

Bhaskar Gorti, Executive Vice President (EVP) of Cloud and Cybersecurity Services, Tata Communications, emphasised the company’s commitment to supporting academia’s need for cloud resources to build foundational AI models.

The product, Vayu Cloud offers cross-platform interoperability across on-premise, public, private, edge and multi-tenant environments, enabling businesses to seamlessly shift workloads between different cloud setups. Tata Communications’ competitive pricing model eliminates data transfer charges between cloud environments, ensuring lower operational costs without compromising performance.

Vayu Cloud available currently in India, the United Kingdom, United States and Singapore, also plans for further global expansion. The cloud and security division of Tata Communications has seen 12.5 per cent Year on Year (YoY) and 4.1 per cent Quarter on Quarter (QoQ) growth, supported by an annual investment of $50 million in cloud innovations as part of a broader $200-$300 million yearly capital expenditure.
