IBM, recently, has launched a new Software Lab in Lucknow, focused on developing cutting-edge solutions in Generative and Agentic AI, powered by Large and Small Language Models (LLMs & SLMs). This expansion aligns with IBM’s “Innovate in India” vision and is set to support both global and domestic enterprises in scaling AI-driven innovations.
Sandip Patel, Managing Director of IBM India and South Asia, emphasised that the new lab will leverage local talent to drive technological advancement, enhance India’s digital backbone and contribute meaningfully to global innovation ecosystems.
Welcoming the initiative, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath hailed the lab as a transformational step toward positioning Lucknow as an emerging AI City. He noted that this move would not only create high-value employment opportunities but also significantly boost the region’s tech infrastructure, placing Uttar Pradesh on the national AI innovation map.
As India accelerates its journey in digital and AI transformation, IBM’s Lucknow lab reflects the growing importance of Tier-2 cities in becoming key players in the global AI landscape.
